Joya Marie is a contemporary printmaker who creates imagery that reflects her observations of the urban realm. Her prints focus on the cities that she has known and loved, exploring their character through observation.
With a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from Grand Valley State University in Michigan. Joya has also studied at Kingston University in London, UK and Academia D’ Arte in Florence, Italy.
The artist currently lives and works in Tacoma, WA.
Artist Statement: My artistic process involves immersion in the urban landscape. I wander through streets, capturing photographs, sketching on location, and absorbing the sights, sounds, and textures of the city. These observations serve as a foundation for my prints, as I distill the essence of these experiences into compositions that reflect the vibrant spirit and unique character of each place
